TCFBO #060: Mind Your Language

A simple way to increase your chances of success.

Read Time: 2.5 minutes

We’ve talked before about how “focus creates reality” is the secret to creating the results you truly desire.

And, although we may attempt to remain focused on our heart’s desires, negative self-talk, ingrained beliefs, habits and the general monkey chatter in our heads can take away our focus without us even noticing.

Even if we think we’ve managed to change some of our poor thought processes, our minds aren’t static so it’s easy to fall back into a way of thinking that doesn’t support us.

However, a simple way to catch our thoughts is to pay attention to the words we speak.

Because, in order for us to have spoken, we first had to think the words, even if we didn’t consciously think about them before we spoke them.

So, the words we speak are a clue to what we’re thinking.

They are an indication of what our underlying thoughts or feelings are in any given moment.

And it’s often easier to notice what we’ve said out loud than to notice the quiet thought behind it.

For example…

If we say we “want” something it’s often because we feel we’re lacking something and our focus is on lack and not having it.

If we say we “can’t” do something it could be that our underlying focus is feeling helpless, lacking in confidence, or lacking the skills and resources we think are required for the job.

If we say “I don’t have time / money etc” again, our underlying focus may be that we are feeling that we lack whatever is we’re saying we don’t have.

The thing is, if our underlying focus is on lack then we’re feeding our subconscious mind feelings of lack and unconsciously we end up creating more lack in our lives.

Lack of time.

Lack of money.

Lack of resources.

Lack of trust.

Lack of confidence.

Lack, lack, lack, lack, lack.

When we say something out loud we are turning a thought into something physical.

Our words have a sound.

That sound has a vibration.

And we have just created something in the universe.

So now, we’re both careful about the language we use.

We pay close attention to the words that come out of our mouths.

And will catch ourselves and each other if we use language that is not supporting what we desire to create.

In fact, quite often we’ll correct ourselves mid-sentence.

“I don’t have time…actually, I do have time, I’m just choosing not to prioritise this thing right now.”

“I can’t do this…yet, however I’m working on a way to do it.”

“I’ll try and do it…actually, I’ll do it.”

“I want this result…actually, I’d love this result.”

So we’d encourage you to…

…pay close attention to the words you’re using

…see if your words give you a clue as to where your underlying focus is

…then change your language so you change your focus.

Because if you change your focus, you’ll change your life and your business.

Let us know how you get on and we’ll see you next week.
