TCFBO #064: Creating Compulsive Propulsion

How to ensure your vision is compelling enough to propel you forward.

Read Time: 2 minutes

Today we want to pose a thought-provoking question:

Is your business vision so compelling that you would be willing to dedicate your efforts to it, even if you knew you wouldn't see its full realisation within your lifetime?

This isn’t just a hypothetical or philosophical question.

It's a gauge of just how much of your heart you’ve poured into your vision.

A truly compelling vision feels like a calling, like this is the reason you were put on the planet.

It's something that gets you out of bed in the morning with enthusiasm, no matter the challenges that lie ahead.

It feels deeply aligned with your values and inspires and motivates you.

The compulsion to create it propels you forward!

A simple way to assess the compelling nature of your vision is to ask yourself:

Does my vision resonate with me?

Does my vision inspire me?

Does my vision compel me to keep working towards it even during tough times, or faced with obstacles and setbacks?

Would I be proud to have this vision as my legacy once I’ve gone?

Do I love everything about my vision?

This isn’t about creating a business vision that you think you should have or ought to have.

This is about you creating a vision you love based on your heart’s desires.

Sure, people always talk about Walt Disney or Steve Jobs, whose dreams had such momentum that they continued to shape their companies and the world long after they’d gone.

But if your business vision is simply that your business provides you and your loved ones with the lifestyle you desire…and that truly aligns with your heart…GREAT!

Because, ultimately, if your vision is compelling enough to pursue even without the certainty that you’ll ever complete it, you have something truly powerful at your core.

And it’s this kind of vision that will attract the individuals you need to help you fulfil it.

So we’d encourage you to take a few moments now to consider the questions and answer them honestly.

Because, as Jim Carrey once said:

“You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
