Six simple suggestions to clear out clutter and become more efficient.

In the UK, Spring has allegedly sprung, although you wouldn’t know it by the weather!

And, domestically, Spring is traditionally the time of year when we finally get to throw the windows open and give the house a thorough, deep clean.

It’s also a great time to give your business a deep clean too.

And we don’t just mean your physical environment.

So to get you started, here are six suggested areas to focus on to help you start decluttering, streamlining and Spring cleaning your business operations.

1. Financial Scrub Down

Start off by going through your finances with a critical eye.

What subscriptions can you cancel?

What unnecessary costs can you cut?

Could you reassign those savings elsewhere to help you move forward faster?

And if you want to see where you may be leaving money on the table, you can use the Income Matrix Parts One and Two to maximise your revenues.

 

2. Inventory Inspection

Next, take stock of your product inventory, both physical and digital.

What can you clear out that is gathering dust?

What could you put in a “Spring Sale” or “Clearance Sale” to give your revenues a boost?

What can you get rid of to create the physical and / or mental space for more profitable products?

 

3. Relationship Reassessment

Now take time to evaluate your current partnerships and supplier agreements.

Are they still beneficial and in alignment with your business vision?

If not, is it time to seek out new opportunities that better match your business' direction?

4. Marketing Makeover

Once you’re clear on what products are staying and who your ideal customers are, it’s time to take a fresh look at your marketing.

What needs to change to make sure your marketing strategy continues to align with your ideal customer and the products you sell?

If not, now might be a good time to start.

 

5. Process Purge

If you’ve got this far in the business Spring clean then it’s likely a few things will have changed in your business.

So see if you can streamline some of your processes by eliminating any steps that no longer add value.

What processes need updating? 

What processes can be safely ditched completely?

What repetitive tasks can you automate or delegate?

6. Digital Declutter

If you’re not on top of your digital data already then this could easily become an overwhelming task, which is why we suggest doing this at the end of your deep clean.

What files can you easily archive or delete?

What email lists can you unsubscribe from?

Remember, just like a Spring clean in your home, you don’t have to do everything in one hit.

Keeping your business running like a well oiled machine takes regular maintenance.
